Jack Black made his mark as one half of comedy music duo Tenacious D. He has been part of the band alongside an illustrious acting career. He has starred in many movies including School of Rock, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, Kung Fu Panda, and recently the reboot of the Jumanji films.

Black comes into Community in the 13th episode of the show's first season, Investigative Journalism, as the character Buddy.

Buddy joins the study group without being invited and the group must decide whether or not he can stay. Buddy begs them to let him join as he has been observing the group for the semester before they broke for winter.

Towards the end of the episode, the group agree to let Buddy stay as a permanent member of their group. As they tell him, another group enter and tell Buddy he has been let into their group, 'the cool group', which is led by another familiar face...
