4. Season 3: Remedial Chaos Theory

Though Season 3 of Community is arguably the show's best, there is no debate as to what the season's best episode is. Remedial Chaos Theory is widely regarded as Community's greatest outing, and with good reason. Writer Chris McKenna, of Ant-Man and the Wasp fame, even earned an Emmy nomination for his work on this episode.

The story follows a housewarming party at Troy and Abed's new apartment. The duo order pizza, and one study group member must go down to get dinner. To decide who goes, Jeff rolls a six sided die, with whatever number comes up number determining who has to get the pizza. After Abed warns Jeff that this will create multiple timelines, we see a quick glimpse into each possible future based on who leaves the room for two minutes.

When Troy leaves to get the pizza, he creates the Darkest Timeline, which may be the funniest scene in Community history. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong, with the apartment lighting on fire, Pierce's dying after Annie's gun accidentally goes off, and Troy shouting "NOOOOO!" upon seeing Pierce's creepy Norwegian Troll Doll, which the episode's end tag reveals he ate, causing him to lose his speech.

However, before any one of these timelines can become a reality, Abed catches the die, and reveals that Jeff rigged the system so he would never have to get the pizza. As such, Jeff is deemed the group's pizza delivery boy, and all the disastrous alternate timelines are averted.
