DC's Stargirl Season 1 Review: 10 Ups & 2 Downs

1. An Incredible Debut

Stargirl finale
DC Universe/The CW

When Stargirl premiered, it showed immense promise. When it rolled along, it became addictive. When it concluded, it was stunning; not just because of how good the finale was (and believe this writer when he says it's great), but because of the fact that it finally allows us to appreciate the show as a complete entity. And what a wonderful entity it is.

Stargirl's strengths may lie in its uplifting tone or its traditionally triumphant approach to superheroism, but the truth is that it backs all of this up with storytelling capable of going toe-to-toe with the very best of the genre. That's because it is the very best of the genre... or at least it will be going forward.

The Arrowverse is still very much figuring out what it's going to look like in a post-Arrow world, but if it looks anything like Stargirl's maiden outing, then the future could be even brighter than the past.

A first season up there with the openers of Arrow and The Flash, Stargirl is a triumph on every level - and it's one that you absolutely should be watching.
