Doctor Who: 10 Greatest Things The 50th Anniversary Year Gave Us

8. The Web Of Fear/The Enemy Of The World

Web Of The World For fans of a certain age, one of the defining joys of this anniversary year will be the recovery of NINE previously thought lost-forever episodes of Patrick Troughton's Doctor, whose surviving adventures have been severely depleted for years, since the BBC destroyed many of the original episodes. In November this year, it was revealed that, thanks to archivist Phillip Morris and his team's routing around in Nigeria, the BBC once again had possession of the complete 'The Enemy of the World' serial and all episodes bar one of the fondly-remembered 'The Web of Fear' (which featured the aforementioned Great Intelligence - what a small whoniverse, eh?). As well as meaning there are two new/old Doctor Who stories to watch, this haul also breathes new hope into the search for missing episodes when it was thought that no more could be found. Who knows where more might be? Once you've read this article, go and have a look in your attic...
