Doctor Who: 10 Reasons David Bradley Should Star In More First Doctor Adventures

1. An Adventure In Space and Time

Doctor Who David Bradley We all know 'An Adventure In Space And Time' was a brilliant love letter by Mark Gatiss to the early years of 'Who'-but retrospectively it could also be considered as Bradley's audition for the part of the First Doctor. On which evidence you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who'd disagree with his full-time casting in the part for future Whoniverse duty. If he can bring out the human side in the famously flinty Bill Hartnell surely nothing can stop him bringing previously unheard of facets to the character of the Doctor. Gatiss and other seasoned writers could have a great deal of fun exploring whichever avenues they choose to lead him down. With the two having worked together and clearly enjoyed it-see the great photo of Bradley as Hartnell, Reece Shearsmith as Pat Troughton and Gatiss himself as Jon Pertwee in their own recreation of 'The Three Doctors'- it wouldn't hurt to at least give it a try. And with Peter Capaldi soon to debut as the Twelfth Doctor this is surely the time to go back to the beginning in a sense and mould the First into so much more than the young man trying to be old and important. More of the daft old man who stole that magic box and indeed his life beforehand may be the path of choice. And there are so many potentially great ideas in that regard that it would be a shame not to use David Bradley and make use of the full range of his abundant talent. But what do you think? Whether you'd welcome more from him or can't bear the thought of anything or anyone sullying your precious memories of the late great Mr Hartnell get in touch!
