7. Big Bang Two "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue"
"Raggedy Man, I remember you, and you are *late for my wedding*!"
They almost had us in this episode. It really looked like the Doctor may not make it out of this one. It's not like it was the next year, when no-one was fooled for a moment: it seemed like they were going too far towards ending him, and they wouldn't be able to go back. Amy's wedding, the fulfillment of her promise to Rory, was a nice traditional ending for the year. Mind, this isn't Victorian lit: it didn't end with the wedding. But a wedding gives a good finish to the whole thing. Amy always adored the Doctor, worshiped him for most of her life. That love did the impossible, and brought him back from the dead. She was no ordinary girl, and she brought back what should be impossible. Sure, that worship eventually almost destroyed her. But it was a powerful relationship while it was onscreen, and this was its peak. Also, just putting it out there, how great is it that the old wedding saying applies to the Tardis?
