So here it is: the most popular, most viewed and arguably most important Doctor Who episode since Christopher Eccleston welcomed the character back almost 10 years ago. Occasionally criticised and praised simultaneously for its commitment to Britishness, it seemed somewhat fitting for the story of the Titanic to be retold by the Doctor Who writers, and though it was taken to task by the last survivor of the Titanic disaster, it was nothing of the sort. Somewhat inevitably thanks to the presence of "angels", religious groups also took offence to the supposed messianic portrayal of the Doctor. In truth, the episode perhaps isn't as brilliant as the giant audience might have suggested: it was a spectacle certainly and the effects were great, but some elements fell flat (not least Kylie Minogue's performance) and there are far better Christmas episodes. But such is the power of good marketing and a strong story concept. Which of these episodes is your favourite? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
