Doctor Who: 5 More Predictions For 50th Anniversary Special
1. The War Doctor
With the release of 'Night of the Doctor' (wasn't it good?) we have recently discovered where John Hurt lands on the list of regenerations - number 8 but we don't yet have a clear idea of what part he's going to play in the episode. It might be a conservative assumption to think he will be the villain of the piece, dark time lords are no strangers to the show but lets think about it. For the past few years there has been one important conflict in the Doctor's life - the one with himself. The main point of The Ninth Doctor was that he was recovering from the catastrophic effects of the Time War, The Tenth Doctor abhorred violence so much he would berate UNIT for using guns even to defend themselves (Series 4, Episodes 4 and 5) and eleven... oh eleven.
Anyone who remembers the Dream Lord from 'Amy's Choice' (Series 5, Episode 7) will know that the thing that The Doctor hates most in the universe is himself. He has been in constant struggle with his conscience about what he did and who he is. Instead of being a literal villain - a hurdle for the Doctor(s) to defeat I think that the War Doctor is something that the other two are going to have to come to accept emotionally and literally. This new trajectory in Doctor Who's history (look up any Moffat interview from the past few months for full details) could be simply referring to a new kind of Doctor, one who is at peace with using violence in extenuating circumstances. Either that or we will see the Doctors reforming the War Doctor to the point where he regenerates into Christopher Eccleston. Here's hoping.
That's what I think. Can you see what I can't and want to put me right? Want to compliment my choices and thoughts? Please comment below! We love hearing from you.
