So many fascinating mysteries, the gorgeous American horizons and River along for the ride, this one of Moffat's most ambitious stories ever. The Silence become A-list monsters just from this one appearance, and the badass speech at the end tops off a thrilling ride.
24. The Christmas Invasion
It may only feature David Tennant sparingly, but what an introduction. Charisma in spades and courage on his sleeve, Ten fights the Sycorax and saves the world: not bad for a man in his pyjamas.
23. The Angels Take Manhattan
The agonising goodbye for Amy and Rory, 'The Angels Take Manhattan' is fittingly epic, twist-laden and poignant. A fitting final episode for such fantastic companions.
22. The Time Of Angels / Flesh And Stone
The first two-parter of Moffat's era, this is another Weeping Angel classic filled with tension and suspense. The twists are excellently executed and the Angels are developed into evil psychopaths; they're still beautifully elegant though.
21. Amy's Choice
A chance to see the evil inside the Doctor's head, 'Amy's Choice' is a brilliantly acted, wonderfully funny and hugely conflicted episode of great shape and pace. Who knew psychic pollen could create so much drama?
