3. The Doctor Meets The Daleks Episode 2
While the damaged Dalek will be at the centre of Episode 2, the Series 8 trailer shows that well be seeing at least four undamaged Daleks along with a space battle scene. So its pretty much an inevitability that the Twelfth Doctor will find himself facing down his worst enemies in just a few weeks. And when he does, it will be a pivotal moment in his character development. The Doctors reaction to the Daleks often says a lot about him. The Ninth Doctors was terror followed by near-psychotic anger. The Tenth tried to help them. And the Eleventh tried to brain one with an enormous spanner. How the Doctor treats the average Dalek should be a measure of the lengths hell go to when faced with the worst of existence. And although writers like to push the envelope with how horrifying they can make the Doctors enemies, how he responds to them will always be somewhere below how he sees the Daleks. No other enemy has the same kind of history and connection to him. And thats why this will hopefully be such a memorable moment. It will help us gauge the Twelfth Doctors more ruthless tendencies and how his methods diverge from those of his predecessors, as well as potentially being such an emotionally charged and serious moment.
