Doctor Who: 10 Best NuWho Recurring Characters

7. Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke)

Episodes: Rose, Aliens of London, World War Three, Boom Town, The Parting of the Ways, The Christmas Invasion, School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen, The Age of Steel, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday, Journey's End, The End of Time Part 2

Mickey the Idiot. The tin dog. Mickey didn't have the easiest of starts in the Whoniverse, often being looked down on by the Ninth Doctor and, to an extent, the Tenth, too. He's more of a comic relief figure throughout his first series, struggling with fears over the aliens attacking often in a comical manner. In fact, he even turned down a place on the TARDIS to begin with because he was scared of the worlds he might see.

However, Mickey really came into his own in the second series. He kept his charm and, while he couldn't compete with some of the other characters on an intellectual level, he finds the courage to help against the Krillitanes and decides to stay in an alternate dimension to join the fight against the Cybermen. He becomes a true badass alien fighter and, having been obsessed with Rose for so long, finally becomes his own person, warranting a deserved place on this list.

Adam Livermore hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
