Doctor Who: 10 Crazy Internet Reactions To The 13th Doctor

3. Alex Kingston Hears The News.

But for all the over the top negativity and the sharing of offensive memes and jokes about parking the TARDIS and bigger on the inside handbags, there have also been some wonderfully unexpected reactions that show the good humoured nature of the fan base and of those involved in the making of the show.

One of the most shared posts was of comedian Jenny Trout’s daughter’s live reaction to watching the reveal clip. The innocence and wonder of her “the new Doctor is a girl” line is one that rang bells with plenty of other parents who saw similar reactions from their own children.

But not everyone was in a position to watch the reveal live.

Alex Kingston of River Song fame was doing a Q and A panel at Raleigh SuperCon when the news broke. As members of the audience shout out Jodie Whittaker’s name, Kingston is clearly surprised and delighted. Her first line is priceless, and completely in character for River Song:

“I’m always the damn cradle snatcher.”

She goes on to praise the appointment of one of the nation’s most talented actors.
