Peter Capaldi's Doctor Who debut was preceded by fevered reports that he was going to be a much "fiercer" titular Time Lord than his predecessors and that's seemingly a character development that went down particularly well with viewers. It was a breath of fresh air to see a darker Doctor but it looks like he'll be turning over a new leaf in Series 9, according to the man in charge. Showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed that the Twelfth Doctor will be "funnier" in the new series after leaving "some of the burden of being a superhero of the universe behind". Just how far they'll be taking his new comedic nature remains to be seen, but can it honestly get funnier than him engaging in a sword fight with Robin Hood... with a spoon? He's already pretty daft so it'll be interesting to see how they balance his conflicting characteristics in Series 9. Thankfully, Capaldi's the perfect man for the job.
