Doctor Who: 10 Most Underwhelming Villains Ever
6. The Abzorbaloff
The Abzorbaloff gets a bad rap overall. "Love and Monsters" is a highly criticized episode because it was the first Doctor-lite episode for time and budget reasons, but that doesn't excuse the poor execution of the low-budget monster. The Abzorbaloff was the winning entry in a contest to create a monster for Doctor Who. However,William Grantham, the nine-year-old inventor of the Abzorbaloff, intended him to be as big as a bus, and clearly, he was human-sized.
The biggest problem with the Abzorbaloff, as with the Wire, was the counter-intuitive manner in which he was defeated. At the end of the episode, the Abzorbaloff was absorbed into the ground, so rather than absorbing the earth or at least the local life forms in the dirt to regain a little power, he was defeated.
