5. Clara Can Play Out The Events Of A 'Classic Who' Episode

If series 8 / 34 has a Doctor-lite episode, than this would be the perfect time to go all 'Trials and Tribble-ations' and have Clara Oswin Oswald running around the set of a Classic Who episode. The metallic black and white tunnels of 'The Daleks'. Working in UNIT during 'The Invasion'. Being a 'green-Earth' activist and fighting giant maggots in 'The Green Death'. Or running around as a maid in a spooky house in 'Ghostlight'. It's a great way to expand on that wonderful sequence from the recent series finale. There are so many opportunities for Clara to get in on some classic action. Here are three of the big classics waiting for a fresh audience - and 'The Talons Of Weng Chiang' would have been number one if we hadn't already had Victorian Clara. 1) The Aztecs: If we're going to go black and white (because it would be cheaper) than this historical would be perfect. Imagine Clara as an Aztec hand maiden, risking death to get close to the Doctor and his companions without becoming a sacrificial victim to the venomous high priest Tlotoxl. Giving Ian the strength to stay alive as he faces the warrior Ixta. Giving the Doctor vital information in the gardens of the palace. Helping Barbara to keep her secret, convincing the Aztecs that she is a goddess, long enough for them all to escape. Lots of intrigue and danger for our young companion in this one. 2) Genesis of the Daleks. Facing mutants, slave labour, war and genocide...and that's before the Daleks come into play, this six-part epic gives Clara plenty of scope to run around, saving the day. Be it working with Sarah Jane in the Thal slave labour cam, or helping Harry survive giant clams (yes clams) in the tunnels beneath the domes. Sneaking around as a Kaled scientist, getting close to the terrible Davros and giving the Doctor some vital information or joining the Thal resistance movement. This story is one of the pinnacles of Classic Who. (And a great way to introduce Nu Who fans to classic Who too). 3) The Seeds of Doom: Another Fourth Doctor story for sure, but then he has so many amazing plots to choose from, if I was Moffat, I would immediately go for the Hinchcliffe 'gothic horror era'. And this story is my favourite of them all, so as I'm writing this, I'm putting it out there! Clara has two possibilities here. Braving the Antarctic snows to save the Doctor and Sarah Jane from the first Krynoid. Braving some action akin to 'The Thing' or heading over to England for a bit of 'Day of the Triffids', this story has the both. Imagine a desperate Clara sneaking around Chase's mansion, saving our heroes from plant mulchers and giant tentacled plants that threaten to take over the planet. There are so many choices available here, this surely is an opportunity to great to pass up?
