6. The 80s Outfit
The above photo is of Capaldi in 1983 when he was 25 years old. Seems like he dressed for the times doesn't it? It certainly doesn't look nearly as bad fashion as Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor costume (not something any of us can blame Baker for, of course) but it still looks pretty terrible. And yet, it would fit with Capaldi well. Terrible fashion sense - That's part of the Doctor's deal, right? And the thing about the 80s is, for us, it's almost stuck in time. The clothing is modern - well, as close to modern as the 80s can be - but at the same time it's still from the past. Matt's young-faced Doctor wore tweed and bow ties, something usually associated with older men, so I think Capaldi's Doctor could handle clothing that is both dated and yet almost modern at the same time.
