Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Peter Capaldi Could Be The Best Doctor Ever

4. Romance Won't Play A Big Part

The Vicar of Dibley Peter Capaldi Well, not unless River comes back and falls in love with his Doctor. I've always seen River as Eleven's girl, though. Ever since the series returned in 2005, we've had the issue of the companions falling in love with The Doctor. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but that will change now with Capaldi. His appearance will give him the father figure role to anyone who's with him in the TARDIS, as the Doctor should be. Yes, they can be the best of friends, and even have feelings for The Doctor, but we don't need the last of the Time Lords falling in love again. That needs to be over and done with. I've just never liked the idea of The Doctor falling in love again. I can understand it, but I don't like it. When you're very old and the very last of your "family", sometimes a lifelong companion is warranted, but that can be done without a relationship angle. With Capaldi, perhaps we will see a proper male companion join him as two friends saving the universe, someone who counts more than just a sidekick. It's a thought, anyway.
