Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Rose Tyler Is The Definitive NuWho Companion

1. She Taught The Doctor How To Love Again

The most important factor that affirms Rose Tyler's presence as NuWho's defining companion is the fact that she, quite literally, taught the Doctor how to love again. And let's just thank our lucky stars that she did! Upon his return to our screens in 2005, the Ninth Doctor was a guilt-ridden and ravished shell of a man following the recent climactic events of the Time War. His encounter with Rose made him realise that there was still happiness to be found in the universe and throughout their travels she changed his life just as much as he changed hers. They depended on each other which is what will ultimately ensure that their relationship stands the test of time. By the time the Ninth Doctor regenerated at the end of Series 1, he was reborn in more ways than one. Rose had helped him put his traumas behind him and thanks to her he faced his tenth incarnation with a new lease of life and - for a short time, at least - it looked like they truly were an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. In fact, the Doctor appreciated what Rose had done for him so much that he even entrusted her to do it all over again with his half human/half Time Lord metacrisis counterpart at the end of Series 4. Born in battle, this Doctor also needed Rose's guidance and it was perhaps the biggest compliment that the real Doctor could have ever given her. He knew that she had the power to impact the ones around her for the better and he never doubted her significance, even when she doubted it herself. Hopefully this was enough to show her that she truly can make a difference. What did you think of this list? Do you agree/disagree that Rose Tyler is the definitive NuWho companion?
