Doctor Who: 10 Secrets Of Skaro You Need To Know

Skaro is obviously not part of Earth's solar system. It exists somewhere in deep space, a long way away from our tiny blue planet.

But bizarrely, one story showed that Skaro is actually capable of switching solar systems, should the need arise.

Written by Dalek creator Terry Nation, Invasion Of The Daleks is a comic-strip in which Skaro is described as having "moved into orbit" around the Earth's Sun, bringing it directly into our solar system. The Daleks have done this because they want to invade Earth, to stop humanity from exploring space. What a load of bullies.

Though we've never seen anything like this in Doctor Who itself, the idea of the Daleks possessing planet-moving technology was featured in 2008's Series 4 finale, The Stolen Earth/Journey's End. Here, the Daleks steal over two-dozen planets, moving them from their own solar systems and relocating them to a region of space called the Medusa Cascade.

This in mind, the idea of the Daleks being able to apply similar technology to Skaro itself isn't much of a reach. Just think of the tactical potential - they could literally move their entire planet next door to whatever species they want to conquer next.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
