Doctor Who: 10 Secrets Of Skaro You Need To Know

As if a toxic lake full of monsters and a race of mutant cannibals wasn't enough, there's also a region of Skaro that lives under constant sub-zero temperatures, giving the planet yet another deadly tool to add to its utility belt of death.

A comic-strip published in issue #77 of TV Century 21 depicts a Dalek flying its spaceship over the Polar Mountains, a series of icy peaks that are so cold, the Dalek notes that its "internal radial heat" is actually starting to fail.

The Polar Mountains appear to be barren and uninhabited - not surprising, given the temperature - with the only signs of life being a trio of strange beings who have been frozen in the ice for centuries. However, they soon thaw out, and start causing trouble for the Daleks.

This same comic-strip also shows us a sandy desert area of Skaro, where the Daleks exterminate the living daylights out of an unidentified race of sand-dwelling creatures. What else would the Daleks do upon discovering a new life form?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
