Doctor Who: 10 Stories You Must Rewatch After The Power Of The Doctor

One of the most interesting elements in The Power of the Doctor was the hologram the Doctor used to talk to her companions.

This meant that returning guest companion Tegan saw a hologram of Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor, in some incredibly touching scenes. As Tegan descended the UNIT building in order to stop the Cybermen, she was incredibly nervous, and had a conversation with the Fifth Doctor hologram about the last time she encountered the Cybermen.

That last encounter was 1982's Earthshock, which saw the Cybermen attempt to use a space freighter to assassinate all of Earth's leaders at a peace conference, and use the Doctor and his companions as unwitting hostages. During her conversation with the Doctor hologram in The Power of the Doctor, Tegan is particularly upset remembering Adric, who met an unfortunate end in Earthshock.

Here, the Doctor, Tegan, and Nyssa watch from the TARDIS as the ship the Cybermen used to try and crash into Earth's peace conference hurtles towards the planet with Adric still onboard. The TARDIS crew then has to watch as Adric meets his maker, an event which The Power of the Doctor showed is still at the forefront of Tegan's mind.
