Doctor Who: 10 Things To Expect From Chibnall's First Series
4. An Intriguing Mystery And Big Revelations
Who killed Danny Latimer? That was on of the biggest TV mysteries in recent years and in Broadchurch, Chibnall proved that he could write some riveting television that kept its audience on tender hooks for eight week. The series mystery has been a staple of Doctor Who since it returned in 2005 and expect that to continue under Chibnall's tenure. And expect some big revelations too; in Broadchurch, the reveal that Joe was the killer was a shocking twist, while the reveal that Captain John Hart was the bad guy setting the trap in the penultimate series two episode of Torchwood certainly raised the stakes for the finale. Given his ability to pull the rug out from under the audience, expect a big revelation or two during the course of series 11 that is sure to serve as some big water cooler moments during his initial run overseeing Doctor Who.
A writer for Whatculture since May 2013, I also write for TheRichest.com and am the TV editor and writer for Thedigitalfix.com . I wrote two plays for the Greater Manchester Horror Fringe in 2013, the first an adaption of Simon Clark's 'Swallowing A Dirty Seed' and my own original sci-fi horror play 'Centurion', which had an 8/10* review from Starburst magazine! (http://www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/eventsupcoming-genre-events/6960-event-review-centurion) I also wrote an episode for online comedy series Supermarket Matters in 2012. I aim to achieve my goal for writing for television (and get my novels published) but in the meantime I'll continue to write about those TV shows I love!
