Doctor Who: 10 Things To Expect From Chibnall's First Series

5. A Human Companion(s) The Audience Can Relate To

A lot of this depends on a) if Peter Capaldi sticks around for a fourth series and b) if Clara's replacement in series 10 is a one-series companion or a transitional character to bridge the old and new eras. But given Chibnall's previous ability to write for Amy and Rory - and Brian - in series seven episodes and Pond Life minisodes and his flawed but engaging very human characters in Broadchurch, he is surely going to be looking to create a main character along these lines without just relying on those actors that cross over from the Moffat era. Be it a second companion or a replacement for Clara's replacement, expect a driven, engaging, emotive and very human character to join the TARDIS as the audience's eyes on the Doctor's world in the same way as characters like Rose and Martha did in the early years of Nu Who.
