Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Knew About John Barrowman

7. He's An Anomaly Within The Whoniverse

And not only because he's an immortal, omnisexual former Time Agent who heralds from the 51st century. The mere fact Captain Jack Harkness tries it on with anybody with a pulse pretty much sets him aside from his fellow Doctor Who brethren but there's actually something else that makes him a unique force to be reckoned with within the coveted realms of the ever expanding Whoniverse. To date, John is one of only three Doctor Who cast members who has crossed over to Torchwood to play the same role. The fact it's his own show doesn't necessarily mean he started the trend, either, because Naoki Mori originally appeared as Toshiko Sato in Series 1 of Doctor Who (Aliens of London) before establishing herself as a bonafide member of the Torchwood team. John plays Jack in both, of course, and then there's Freema Agyeman who enjoyed a short - but eventful - stint as Martha Jones in the spin off between her appearances in the mothership. Oh, and Eve Myles doesn't count, before you try to prove us wrong in the comments. She played Gwyneth in The Unquiet Dead who's only related to her Torchwood character, Gwen (and distantly, at that), so therefore she hasn't been included. Gwen has been in Doctor Who, of course (as part of the Series 4 crossover finale), but this is about characters who went from Doctor Who into Torchwood, not the other way around, so Gwen doesn't get a look in this time. Got it? Got it? Good.
