Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Knew About Peter Capaldi

3. The Documentary Portrait Of Scotland Shows Off His Drawing Skills

http://youtu.be/4YswLTXyepo As said in the previous entry, Peter Capaldi attended the Glasgow School of Art where he honed his drawing skills. After being rejected from the Royal Shakespeare Society for, as he told John Byrne, his eyebrows being €œtoo expressive€ (though that's certainly not hindering him in Doctor Who), he decided to try something else creative for a little while. These skills - once seen in his young fan art for Doctor Who - later paid off when it came time to shoot the 2009 documentary, A Portrait of Scotland. Shot in various museums and other notable places, he talks about the history of portraiture in Scotland, visits with various experts and even does a little bit of sketching himself. His black Doc Martens also make an appearance, and it wouldn't be the last time, of course.
