Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Knew About Series 7 Of NuWho

1. Did The Third Doctor Die For Nothing?!

In the episode Hide, the Doctor and Clara visit a house in 1974 that is explained to be haunted. The Doctor explains the "haunting" is instead a time traveller stuck in a parellel dimension who is being chased by an unknown creature. Standard Doctor Who, then. Luckily, Emma, an assistant to Professor Alec Palmer, can use her thoughts as a way of connecting to this parellel dimension, but the Doctor needs a crystal from Metebelis III in order to enhance those thoughts to create a portal to that dimension... the same Metebelis III that the Third Doctor returned a crystal to back in Planet of the Spiders in order to prevent the "eight legs" from controlling the universe. It's never clarified if this is the same crystal or not, but it was the Third Doctor's folly of taking the crystal to begin with that started off the chain of events that led to his regeneration. Why, then, does the Eleventh Doctor now have a crystal from the same planet the Third Doctor had risked his life to return one to!? Oh, Doctor. Why does River let you out...?
