Throughout the entirety of the first series of Nu Who, there were scattered references to a mysterious Bad Wolf. The Doctor and Rose, a 19 year old from the Powell estate in London who worked in a shop and dreamed of a better life, had met in the very first episode of the revived series whilst the Doctor investigated the Auton invasion of Earth. Given that the average Brit tends to ignore signs of unparalleled weirdness (as almost every episode of Doctor Who ever since has shown), Rose, in the beginning, was a tad suspicious of her new friend. As the series progressed, though, her confidence in the Doctor grew - as did the references to Bad Wolf. It took a long while for the Doctor to pick up on the fact that this may be some kind of message sent throughout time and space and eventually he made the decision to find out just where all this timey-wimey graffiti was coming from. The final episodes of the first series revealed the truth behind these two very simple words. As mentioned earlier, Mickey Smith would help Rose to access the heart of the TARDIS, from which Rose absorbs the unfathomable power of the time vortex. Rose would then use this power to destroy the Daleks, their Emperor and revive the previously murdered Jack Harkness (imbuing him with that self-same immortality that he would later give up). The Doctor, however, would absorb the energy to save Rose's life, leading to his regeneration. Rose had saved the day before needing to be saved herself. Whilst some would argue that the Ninth Doctor giving up his life to save Rose was a bigger gesture, even that wouldn't have saved Earth from the Daleks' wrath. This was Rose's moment to savour, despite the bitter aftertaste.
