Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Went Too Far

5. The Twin Dilemma

Doctor Who Colin Baker The Twin Dilemma strangle Peri

Old Sixie’s TV run is a far cry from the jovial characterisation that extended media has taken in recent times. Colin Baker’s incarnation attempts a speedrun record when it comes to being a d*ck, arriving fresh-faced from his regeneration and immediately attempting to strangle his poor companion Peri to death.

In fairness, he was suffering from a rather bad bout of post-regeneration madness, but that still doesn't really justify this, does it?

Throughout the story, this new Doctor is irritable, impatient, and uncharacteristically aggressive. He snaps at Peri, nearly gets her killed by shrugging off blame onto her while they’re both held at gunpoint, and shows a total disregard for saving the life of a stranger. The whole thing is… an interesting choice for a first episode, and the classic era arguably never really recovered.

Six carried on being Six, doing things like knocking henchmen into pools of acid and quipping about it, and generally making ‘pushing things a bit far’ one of his core character traits. He is an absolute chad when it comes to taking things over the line.
