7. Key To Destruction
2008's momentous Series 4 finale, The Stolen Earth/Journey's End, is widely cited as one of the greatest adventures in Doctor Who history and it's safe to say that it doesn't get much bigger than our beloved Time Lord and a band of his most faithful companions (at least, his modern ones!) joining forces to save the whole of reality itself from the might of Davros and his army of dreaded Daleks. The cast of Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures even came along for the party (and that's not to mention Rose Tyler, who went through the trouble of creating a dimension canon to return from the confines of her parallel universe!) but there was one other rather important face missing from the proceedings (and no, we're not talking about Love & Monsters' Elton Pope - he didn't come back for a reason!). It was Martha Jones, of course, who found herself off in some German castle somewhere which meant that she unfortunately missed out on most of the gang's festivities aboard the Crucible. Not that she didn't have more than enough to keep her mind occupied, though, as she had been assigned as UNIT's leader of the mysterious Project Indigo which meant that she well and truly held the key to Earth's destruction in her hands. You'll be pleased to hear that she didn't go through with it in the end, which was good news for the rest of the human race. It was touch and go for a scary minute there, though, but she came through in the end. Looks like someone had a senior moment...
