Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor

6. Check Out A Museum

It is obvious throughout the series that the Doctor is a man of culture. He goes to the Louvre in The City of Death, he quotes Longfellow in The Twin Dilemma, he knows Vincent Van Gogh and Shakespeare personally of course, and he gives a long talk on the famous painting The Nightwatch in Big Finish’s The Waters of Amsterdam.

Culture is quite a broad topic - there is high and low culture, art, music, and theatre – and the Doctor seems knowledgeable in most of it. For us humans though, with less time and resources, the best approach is probably to try things and see what engages you. Watch some ballet online, listen to some classic composers or learn about your favourite artist. Museums and galleries are also a brilliant place to go, though culture can be found closer to home too, in a local cathedral or community theatre.

There is also plenty to see online and on television – series based on great works of literature, live streaming events, and art documentaries. All these make it easier to access culture than ever before, so you could be quoting great works like the Doctor in no time!
