Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor

3. Explore Science

Doctor Who is science-fiction, so science is naturally used a lot within the show as the basis of scenarios, conflicts, and of course, by the Doctor - who is a scientist. Some excellent examples of real-world science being referenced in episodes include anti-matter in The Evil Planet, recursion in Castrovala and tachyons in The Leisure Hive. Not forgetting all the many, many references to space.

Science is a subject that anyone can learn about, at varying levels – don’t be scared off by jargon or maths, there is always something you can pick up. It’s also a useful topic that can help you understand the world and yourself better, like biology for instance. It can be just as strange as a Doctor Who episode too, for example did you know that lightning can shoot out of erupting volcanoes?

There are plenty of ways to access science as well - through documentaries, tutorial videos and even free online courses. There are many books you can read too, including some that look specifically at the science behind Doctor Who itself. It’s well worth checking out!
