Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor

2. Learn to Play an Instrument

The Doctor famously plays two instruments, the recorder and the guitar, in his Second and Twelfth incarnations. Alright, three if you count the Seventh Doctor playing the spoons!

Anyway, becoming a musician and taking up an instrument can be very rewarding. Playing music is said to be good for your brain, as it enhances memory, can make you feel happier and generally keep your mind sharp. There are lots of free lessons available on the internet or you can purchase instruction books. It’s also perfect for both introverts and extroverts, and those in between, as you can do it socially or by yourself.

The guitar is of course a popular choice for beginners as you don’t need to learn to read music to get started - though be warned, it is painful on the fingers. Pianos, ukuleles, and flutes are also good beginner instruments. Just be prepared to practice regularly though, and don’t expect to be playing on top of a tank like the Twelfth Doctor after just two lessons
