Doctor Who: 11 Nostalgic Theme Tunes Of The New Generation

1. I Am The Doctor (And Any Variations Thereupon)

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLTXq0Wa15qFIv6RKefn3FG8gswnynMWt No arguments here. Anyone listening to this theme can€™t help but crack a smile or tap their foot along to the animated beat. Images of the Eleventh Doctor darting from explosions, dodging a rain of sparks and childishly marveling at his narrow escapes materialise in the listener's mind. Whenever his theme begins to sound, you just know the Doctor will be running while wearing an impish grin. And you'll want to run, too. Many variations of I Am the Doctor have been reintegrated throughout Smith€™s era, all having that same rhythmic, catchy, and upbeat mood. The Sun€™s Gone Wibbly first popped up in The Eleventh Hour when the Doctor and Amy were running against the clock and negotiating with some single-minded Atraxi. Amy in the TARDIS also includes a hint of the Eleventh Doctor€™s proverbial theme. Deceiving at first, this variation begins with soft, fluttering piano keys as Amy is entranced by the TARDIS, wandering around the console room in trepidation and disbelief. Then, after about three minutes or so, just when you think the quivering little melody will end with an ominous chorus, the strings kick in and the entire atmosphere becomes fun and lighthearted. Amy can€™t wait to begin her ridiculous and daring escapades with the raggedy Doctor. The third variation, meanwhile, called Up the Shard, is from the Series 7 episode The Bells of Saint John. This version is played as the Doctor rides his anti-gravity motorcycle along the exterior walls of a glass skyscraper. Well, what more needs to be said? No other theme could better represent Eleven like I Am the Doctor. It makes a playful yet melodramatic impression, like a child trying to master a cool move only to trip and stumble at the worst possible time. Basically, the Eleventh Doctor in a nutshell. What did you think of this list? Are there any other NuWho themes that you just can't get out of your head? How did you respond to these eleven tunes? Any random dancing? Humming? Crying? Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
