6. A Dark Turn For The Show

Christoper Eccleston's Doctor had a dark edge to him. Many attribute this to what happened during the years we did not see the Doctor (the end of the Time War, whatever is up with John Hurt). David Tennant's tenth Doctor and Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor were much more lighthearted and fun. Sure they both had their share of darker moments but the enduring images of the tenth and eleventh Doctors are much lighter than those that came before them. Well now we are about to find out about a very dark secret the Doctor has harbored. He's also dealing with the final goodbye to River and still likely reeling from the loss of Amy and Rory. All signs point towards towards a much darker version of the Doctor this time around. Some of the best moments for Doctor Who are the ones that show him releasing the raw, damaged man that dwells under the surface. He's spent over 900 years fighting and dying, watching his friends fight and die. Those dark corners of his soul have to hide some juicy stories and it looks like some of those are beginning to bubble to the surface.
