3. Steven Moffatt

Hey wait a minute, how can Steven Moffat be a reason for a better Doctor Who after I already said he should leave the show? Well, because it's my article, that's why. Look, I get it, many (most?) of you hate the guy. You can't wait for the day where he is sent packing. You will rejoice and your world will be whole once more. Just one thing: The guy knows how to tell a damn good story. Yes, I'll agree he relies too heavily on convoluted plots and story arcs that drag out over entire seasons. Yes, he has left some plot threads dangling. Consider though, those story arcs have everyone tuning in from week to week. We wanted to know why Amy Pond had a crack in her wall. We all lost our minds when the Doctor eliminated Ganger Amy. We gasped when we found out River was the Gamma Forrest translation of Melody. And those dangling plot threads; who cares, he ties up the important ones. Get over it. Yes, he kills off everyone we love but that just adds to the emotion. We never feel safe with Moffat. Anyone can go at any time. That builds tension and keeps us tuning in. Bottom line, in an era where more and more fans are getting their entertainment from alternate sources (read, not TV), Moffat has i
ncreased viewership for Doctor Who while at the helm. People are tuning in to see the man tell his stories. I for one am looking forward to see where he goes next.
