Doctor Who: 9 Funniest Episodes Of The Revived Series

5. Space And Time

Space and Time was supposed to be nothing more than a heartwarming skit for Comic Relief but it ended up being highly controversial when members of the viewing public complained that Rory Williams looking up Amy Pond's mini-skirt through a glass floor was offensive to women. Actually, this is probably where the assumption that Steven Moffat is a sexist, misogynistic pig came from, but if you stopped to consider the possibility that he's merely trying his best to continue the success of his favourite programme with no underlying political or moral agendas, then it really is quite entertaining, really. For those who choose to take it in the spirit in which it was intended, it's basically a mini-adventure in which the TARDIS materialises inside itself and, if that wasn't bad enough, all hell breaks loose when Amy Pond comes face to face with herself. You can probably imagine the sort of chaos that ensues next, can't you? Hell, she even manages to flirt with herself at one point (and no, Moffat wasn't trying to glorify narcissism when he wrote that - it's just funny, all right?!) which, as the Eleventh Doctor rightly pointed out, is probably the closest thing to true love she's ever felt. Sorry, Rory. At least Amy learned an important lesson at the end of it all, though, which is that she should probably start wearing trousers. Hurrah for underlying morals! It was for charity, OK?
