Doctor Who: 9 Funniest Episodes Of The Revived Series

4. Partners In Crime

Here they are again! Fans had been eagerly awaiting Donna Noble's return in Series 4 and she certainly didn't disappoint. Catherine Tate's on chemistry with David Tennant had been sizzling in her debut episode, The Runaway Bride (another funny one - who could forget Donna's "They had the reception without me!" rant?), but their time together was to be short but sweet as the festive fun was over before it had even truly begun. Cut to 2008 and everybody's favourite temp from Chiswick was back with an almighty vengeance as she returned to our screens in the only way she knew how - by investigating extra terrestrial disturbances on Earth in the hope that one of them would eventually lead her to the Doctor. Well, it was certainly a long shot (to say the least!) but her dedication to the cause ultimately paid off (and against all the odds, too, although it later transpired that there was something else keeping them together...) when she was finally reunited with the titular Time Lord in Partners in Crime. And oh, what a reunion it was! The scene in which Donna spots the Tenth Doctor through the glass, and vice versa, is surely one of the funniest moments of the revived series so far. No dialogue is required because Donna's face just says it all, and they even threw in some comical sound effects for good measure. This two-hander alone was enough to silence all of the naysayers who had been doubting their creditability as an on screen duo. The hilarity didn't stop tehre as their venture down the side of the building in the window-cleaning crane is one of the most unforgettable stunts in Who history, and what about Donna's infamous "You just want to mate?!" exchange at the end of the episode? The Doctor's reaction to Donna's hat box puts the chortling cherry atop this timey-wimey cake and if you're ever in the mood for a bit of light hearted relief, look no further than Partners in Crime. Best to fast forward through Rose's surprise cameo, though, which brings with it all kinds of feels.
