2. A Taste Of What's To Come

The first series of NuWho remains immensely enjoyable after multiple viewings but it's also fun to rewatch because it planted the seeds for various storylines that were to come for the Doctor in his future timey-wimey escapades. In the premiere episode, Rose, for example, the Ninth Doctor first made reference to the Shadow Proclamation, the "outer space police" who would go on to play a big part in 2008's Series 4 finale, and, as previously mentioned on this list, the Doctor's involvement in the Time War was also heavily alluded to throughout Christopher Eccleston's short but sweet era. As well as that, Series 1 laid the groundwork for Torchwood, too. Not only did it feature various actors who would eventually return to star in the spin off, the name of the organisation itself was brought up during a round of Rose Tyler's fateful turn on The Weakest Link in the first part of the climactic series finale, Bad Wolf.
