7. John Barrowman
The Role: The metaphorically larger-than-life John Barrowman played the literally larger-than-life Captain Jack Harkness, an immortal Time Agent, opposite both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant in multiple series of Doctor Who and in all series of spin-off Torchwood. Fans are always clamouring for a rematch between Jack and the Doctor.
Where Is He Now? Since saying goodbye to Jack (hopefully not forever), Barrowman has been a busy man. He's presented TV talent shows, released albums and even written several books with his sister Carole E Barrowman - including a Torchwood novel!
In the areas of TV and film, he's appeared in such wildly different projects as con man drama Hustle, Kathryn Bigelow thriller Zero Dark Thirty and kids' film All Stars. Most famously, he has appeared as Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer in all series of - yes, it's that show again - Arrow.
He was also appointed a Member of the British Empire in 2014 for services to light entertainment and charity.
