Doctor Who: Every Doctor's WORST Episode
4. Fear Her (The Tenth Doctor)
Even everybody’s favourite Doctor has off days. Well, declaring any Doctor ‘everybody’s favourite’ is bound to cause fights in the comments but David Tennant usually tops opinion polls among more casual viewers of the show.
Still, his first series is generally considered to be the weakest of Russell T Davies’s time as showrunner, with Fear Her coming in as the absolute low point.
The episode has more than once been voted as the second worst ever behind The Twin Dilemma, which is a bit harsh. Yes, the pencil scribble monster is ludicrous and, yes, the child actor playing the possessed Chloe Webber leaves something to be desired in her performance. But the demonic representation of her father always lurking in her cupboard provides a chilling commentary on the effect that parental abuse can have on a child.
Plus, watching the Doctor sprint into the stadium on TV with the Olympic torch in hand is the perfect blend of silly and uplifting. Maybe even better than the real opening ceremony. Who’s to say?
