Doctor Who: Every Doctor's WORST Episode
3. Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS (The Eleventh Doctor)
Steven Moffat himself admitted that the seventh series of the revival was a nightmare to produce. With both the fiftieth anniversary special and Matt Smith’s departure on the horizon, there was only so much attention that could be given to the regular run of episodes.
Split into two parts, this series ranges from just okay to downright unwatchable. And sitting comfortably at the very bottom of that pile is this forty-five-minute run-around that goes absolutely nowhere.
With guest characters that would’ve been better portrayed by cardboard cut-outs to an ending that quite literally decides to just hit the reset button, it’s no wonder that some fans were a little apprehensive as to whether Moffat could deliver on the fiftieth anniversary special.
He did, but that’s another list.
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS is a title that has such potential and it’s all flushed down the drain in under an hour.
For a good story that’s set entirely within the Doctor’s time machine, try the First Doctor serial, “Edge of Destruction” and marvel at just how much the new series still has to learn from its forerunner.
