Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
22. Tooth And Claw
One of RTD’s other standalone eps, Series 2’s second instalment incorporated Queen Victoria, creepy monks and an alien werewolf, while briefly giving David Tennant the opportunity to play the Doctor as Scottish for once.
Tooth and Claw is a fun romp, and definitely better than people give it credit for.
The first half is particularly strong – the audience having already seen the Brethren take over Torchwood House, and therefore knowing that the Doctor and Rose are walking into a trap.
It’s all building to the reveal of the Werewolf halfway, which is every bit as thrilling as you’d want it to be.
After the chase we essentially just stay in the library, and the Werewolf’s not in it that much. Additionally the resolution’s a bit convenient (they just so happen to have trapped themselves in the room with the magic telescope).
Nothing too spectacular, but definitely an underrated one.
