Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
12. The End Of Time
Every RTD1 finale has made it to the top third of this this list. And first up is the big one.
The main thing The End of Time has going against it is that it’s a bit too long.
Lots of Part One just feels like it’s treading water. And Part Two has an extra fifteen minutes on the end just so the Doctor can go and say goodbye to his companions.
That said, the added runtime does gives it that event television feel, which no subsequent regeneration story has quite captured.
In terms of highlights, basically every scene between the Doctor and Wilf is gold. The cliffhanger is a proper “WTF?!” moment. And the reveal of what “four knocks” means is utterly devastating.
It could have been a bit more streamlined. But it was undeniably epic, and sent the Tenth Doctor off in style.
