Doctor Who: Every Tom Baker/Hinchcliffe Era Story Ranked From Worst To Best

12. The Android Invasion

Remembered as the second of the €œother€ Terry Nation scripts, along with The Keys of Marinus, which didn€™t feature his meal ticket the Daleks. It does, however, star another Doctor Who draw, UNIT, except this story is reviled by the bits of the cast they could get back who both thought they shouldn€™t be in it. It's been called the most overly complicated Doctor Who plot of the 1970s and with good reason, too. The Kraals essentially play a game of Dolls Houses with androids rather than actually invading anywhere. Despite all of this, though, the story is just about weird enough to work. It stands out as a plot because of how bizarre it is, even if it makes no sense. But this is fine, not much can be expected from an alien race who look like Percy Pig left on a radiator. The weirdness and the opportunities thereof are able to carry some interesting scenes which makes this enjoyable to watch all the way through, even if they€™re not particularly memorable in the long run.
