The definitive article, you might say. Well, as far as NuWho companions are concerned, at least! Most fans are very aware that Rose Tyler was by no means the first companion but she's still widely cited as "the one who started it all", so to speak, by establishing a new generation of Doctor Who fans. So what's Billie Piper been up to since her tenure as everybody's favourite shop girl turned Earth Defender, then? Well, she went back to Doctor Who, for starters, and then she went back again, and then once more as part of the show's 50th anniversary festivities back in 2013. She's certainly been keeping herself busy away from the TARDIS, though, as she's firmly established herself as one of the popular and diverse actresses working in Britain today. Secret Diary of a Call Girl, in which she got tongues wagging - *ahem* - as a high class call girl, has been her most prominent post-Doctor Who role to date and she's also been making a name for herself on stage, most recently in Great Britain for which she won a gong for Best Actress at last month's What's On Stage awards. She left Doctor Who has a household name and her career has gone from strength to strength since she left the Whoniverse behind her... the first time. This summer she'll be back on our screens in Season 2 of Penny Dreadful in which she'll be reprising her role as Brona Croft, an Irish immigrant. Keep 'em peeled!
