Doctor Who: Ranking New Who Companions From Best To Worst

Rory Williams €“ The Last Centurion

Rory WilliamsBest Episode: A Good Man Goes to War
€œI have a message and a question. A message from the Doctor, and a question from me: Where is my wife?€
I underestimated Rory, as I suppose many people did. At first he didn€™t seem like companion material €“ he wasn€™t naturally adventurous, or courageous, or even smart-alecky. As shown in €œAmy€™s Choice,€ his ideal life was a quiet one, with Amy and their kids in a small, quiet town. He got so much more than he bargained for when he followed Amy and the Doctor into the TARDIS. At first, he wasn€™t quite sure how to handle things, and neither I nor the Doctor thought he would last long as a companion. He was too cautious, too tentative for travel across time and space. However, he proved himself a million times over with his love for Amy; he was willing to do anything for her, including waiting two thousand years and never leaving her even when she took forever to make up her mind over whether she wanted to stay with him or the Doctor. Having to protect Amy helped him find his inner badass, and working together with the Doctor even helped him find his inner smart-aleck (€œWe€™re dying €“ again!€). Also, give him credit for dying and coming back to life thirteen times within the series €“ there€™s just no way of keeping Rory Williams down! He is the most loyal husband, the greatest friend, and a surprisingly awesome companion.
