Doctor Who Review: In The Forest Of The Night - 10 Ways The Story Grew

2. The Mystery Remains

€œIn the Forest of the Night€ raises some questions that are left unanswered. Where was Maebh€™s sister for the past year and how did she return? If the beings who grew the trees didn€™t send Maebh to the Doctor who did? Why can Maebh hear the thoughts while no one else can? It€™s hard to know whether these are plot holes or will be answered in the two-part finale. The hints at Clara€™s fate are unsettling. Will she follow a darker path? Will her desire for control and her need for acclaim overcome her kindness? Will she somehow threaten the Doctor? It€™s interesting that the Doctor continues to refer to himself as the last of his species even though Gallifrey still exists. Is he convinced he will never see them again? Has he decided never to seek their return, afraid of upsetting the balance of the Time War?
