5. The Lovers
The Lovers card does not just represent a union between two beings but also the necessity of proper choice. The writers of series eight appear determined to force Clara into choosing between the Doctor and Danny but that is a false construct. Clara does not have to make decisions based on what other people want her to be. When caught between two opposing forces step sideways. Is traveling for and with the Doctor an addiction? The journey may be the drug for the companions but the Doctor is perhaps more obsessed with the people he takes along.
