Each Lead From The Good Place Ranked Worst To Best

1. Elanor Shellstrop

The Good Place
NBC

Finally, the lead character of the series, Elanor Shellstrop. Kristen Bell as a presence in this show brought a lot of validity and investment into the concept that many other actors wouldn't have achieved. Her character work as this beloved mess of a human being was flawless, and her involvement made this series the success it was.

Elanor acted as our eyes into this strange world. We spent the entire journey following her and even when she wasn't the focus her presence was always felt.

The fact that she was clearly flawed as a person but not inherently bad made her instantly relatable and this is a big reason as to why the narrative worked. We felt that she didn't deserve this and like her constantly sensed threat looming.

Her development is easily the shows best. Although technically Michael changes more, Elanor's direction felt so real and honest. Audiences watched her grow and learn, and did the same vicariously through her.

She has to rank as one of the best sit-com leads in recent memory, for her hilarious one-liners, likeable personality and absolutely integral place within the narrative. This is why she is the best character in the show.
