Each Member Of The Always Sunny Gang Ranked From Worst To Best

Each character in the Sunny gang is great, but which ones peak better than others?

The dynamic between the gang is the foundation of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's success. Each character is played to perfection, and they've all seen efficient development since the beginning of the show. The combination of acting and writing the characters have received has taken the sit-com to the heights of success it sees today.

Despite all working fantastically as individuals, it's the connection between the five that make them such a great comedy unit as they play to each other's strengths and weaknesses perfectly. There is easily no weak link in the chain, as every character is worthy of being at the top of this list.

Each viewer has their perceptions of the characters, but through examining their performances, personalities and impact on the show, it's clear that some characters outrank others.

Which member is the funniest, most exciting or entertaining? Delving into this concept opens a wide range of possibilities and character examinations. The five members are so intrinsically different that discussing them as individuals allows for an in-depth study of their impact - both on the show, and on the fans.

5. Frank Reynolds

The patriarch of the Reynolds family, and the gang itself, Frank is brought to life wonderfully by the talented and ever enjoyable Danny Devito. At this point in his career, Devito can do no wrong, his film legacy is extensive, and he is willing to do anything for the show.

It is public knowledge now that had Devito not joined at the beginning of the second season; we wouldn't have seen any more of the gang, as the show's debut was disappointing critically and financially. Thankfully the debut of Frank Reynolds brought some much-needed star power to the series which saved the show from cancellation.

Despite all of this, Frank still sits at the bottom of this list. Primarily down to his simplicity, and lack of development. Frank is hilarious in his debauchery, never has a character seemed quite so happy to live in filth and poverty in a sitcom, and his consistent political and social ignorance makes him fascinating to watch.

However, throughout the show's fourteen seasons, Frank has remained virtually the same, we have seen him become more dramatic and goofy, but his lack of development holds him back when compared to the others.

There have been moments of development in Frank, most notably his acceptance of Mac in the culmination of season thirteen's beautiful "Mac Finds His Pride". But his lack of change throughout the show's lengthy run places him at the bottom of this list.
